Body Measurements

Once someone told me that a way to find out if a child is six is to see whether they can touch their ear by reaching the opposite arm OVER their head. We decided to borrow some little brothers and sisters to see if this was right.
These children have turned five recently, they can't touch their ears but their
seven year old siblings can.
These little brothers are six, and look - they can touch their ears!
When they are born human babies' heads are large compared to the rest of their bodies. This evens out as they grow and develop.

Here are some other statements we checked out by making measurements:
  • Your foot is the same length as your forearm.
  • Your nose is the same length as your thumb.
  • Your arm span is the same as your height.
